DeMarcus Cousins unlikely to return to NBA playffs, won't need surgery

The Golden State Warriors received a glimmer of hopeful news regarding the injury fate of DeMarcus Cousins on Wednesday, but are still expecting to miss their powerful big man for the remainder of the postseason. Cousins fell to the floor with a torn left quad muscle early in the team’s defeat at home to the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night, and underwent an MRI on Tuesday .

Head coach Steve Kerr revealed that Cousins will not – as originally expected – require surgery, but said the player’s rehab is predicted to take two months. However, as recovery times can vary, the Warriors’ medical staff are not ruling out a possible return late in the playoffs.
