Pacquiao says Dasmarinas needs more focus on training

by Ernest Hernandez

Manny Pacquiao thinks Michael Dasmariñas still needs to up his game in order to become a Filipino boxing elite.

“I can see his potential. He’s good, but I think [he needs] more focus on training,” the former International Boxing Federation super bantamweight champion and current World Boxing Association regular welterweight king said on the former International Boxing Organization bantamweight champ.

Dasmariñas was one of the three Boxers of the Year in the recent Elorde Awards along with Jerwin Ancajas and Vic Saludar.

But for Pacquiao, a multiple-time Elorde Awardee, whose fist was immortalized last year, Dasmariñas may need to learn his lessons from his IBF bantamweight title eliminator against Kenny Demicillo on Saturday night if he wants to prolong his legacy and possibly become one of Philippine boxing’s next big things, especially in the conditioning facet.

“Before the last two rounds, he’s tired,” Pacquiao continued. “The secret of boxing is stamina. That’s the most important thing.”
