The Bataan Risers brought down the Caloocan Supremos in a one-sided game while the Manila Stars edged the Bulacan Kuyas to get a head start in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) playoffs best-of-three quarterfinals series late Tuesday night.
The top seeded Risers ripped the Supremos, 91-71, at home and is now a win away from booking a Final Four seat.
Ryan Batino finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds while veteran guard Pamboy Raymundo came away with 11 markers and 11 assists for Bataan.
Fourth-seeded Manila had to struggle before winning over No.5 ranked Bulacan, 69-65.
The Stars worked double time on defense as they tried to shackle the Kuyas’ high-scoring guards James Martinez and Jeric Canada.
Both players were held scoreless by the Stars’ airtight defense. Manila is now a win away from making the next round.
