Lakewood golfers dominate

Lakewood Golf and Country Club bets dominated their rivals from Beverly Place of Pampanga by sweeping all five divisions disputed at the recent launch of the Dream Big Golf Development Program of Sta. Lucia Land.

Lyndon Lucas and Gabriel Escobar led the Lakewood blitzkrieg by winning the low gross and low net titles, respectively, with 36-hole totals of 180 and 145.

Jim Adriano and siblings Marjory and Raymar Mondejar followed suit by topping their respective divisions in the tourney that marked the start of a club-based program seeking to recruit and develop talents coming not just from the ranks of members but caddies and employees.

Adriano netted 146 to finish ahead of Bevery Place bets Arvin Manarang (148) and Adrian Navarro (173). Marjory Mondejar claimed the Division II crown with a 158, far ahead of Bevery Place’s Ferdinand Sanggalang (179) and teammate Lei Garcia (184) even as Marjory’s elder brother Raymar completed the sweep with a similar rout of the Division III field.

Raymar (161) won in runaway fashion with Darren Jay Gumba of Beverly Place claiming second at 187 and Gamaliel Aberin of Lakewood taking third at 190.

Sta. Lucia, Inc. chairman Teng Santos said that the launch results are very encouraging and they intend to expand the program further by involving all of the 11 clubs operated by Sta. Lucia.
