Man City transfer news: Pep Guardiola drops hint when discussing Phil Foden's potential | Football

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola believes Phil Foden will be an incredible player for the next ten years after continuing his impressive run of form with a goal and assist against Liverpool, indicating that he won't rush into the transfer market this summer to bring in a new attacker. Guardiola has faced criticism in the past for his reluctance to give the wonderkid sufficient playing time for the first-team, but defended his actions.

Having been rested for last week's defeat against Chelsea, the 20-year-old was thrown back into the starting line-up at the Etihad.

He played on the right wing in a front three with Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling, and was lively from the start.

The youngster scored his fourth goal in his last three outings, grabbing an assist to cap off a brilliant display.

And ten minutes later, Foden got his goal after playing a neat one-two with Kevin de Bruyne on the edge of the area before smashing past Alisson Becker.

It was just his fifth league start of the season, with three of those coming in the last five games.

Guardiola has faced hefty criticism as a result of his limited playing time, while some speculated that the youngster would be pushed down the pecking order with the arrival of new faces this summer.
