The Ute players grew up recognizing they would have opportunities to play beyond high school. They looked up to female athletes, and they appreciate them. That’s why they embrace being role models themselves.
‘I’m thankful for the people who paved the way to allow me to play at the University of Utah,’ said senior guard Erika Bean. ‘People come up to me after games, asking for advice. It’s been absolutely amazing.’
Utah Athletics will observe National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Friday night, when the No. 17-ranked basketball team (18-3, 7-3 Pac-12) hosts USC.
