Urban Meyer 'no comment' when asked about Ohio State future after 2019

Ohio State coach Urban Meyer offered a “no comment” to a report that he has informed athletic director Gene Smith that he probably would not coach the Buckeyes beyond 2019. Meyer, 54, was asked about the report at a Big Ten Championship news conference Friday in Indianapolis. The Buckeyes (11-1, 8-1) play Northwestern (8-4, 8-1) Saturday for the title.

According to FootballScoop.com , Ryan Day, who was Ohio State’s interim coach when Meyer was suspended three games to start the season, is off the market to move elsewhere because he would be the favorite to be Ohio State’s head coach if Meyer steps down.

Day, the team’s offensive coordinator, won all three games he coached in Meyer’s absence and received strong reviews for his work

There’s been considerable speculation about Meyer’s future this season because he has endured debilitating chronic headaches because of a cyst on his brain .

If the Buckeyes defeat Northwestern, they hope to qualify for the College Football Playoff, although the outcomes of other games, including Oklahoma-Texas, will determine their future.
