The “gun show loophole” is a goddamned myth! 99.9 percent of the display tables where guns are sold at shows are presided over by licensed gun dealers who do background checks on buyers. “Comprehensive” background checks deal not only with gun sales, but prohibit a gun owner from simply lending a firearm to a friend or relative or family member unless the lendee undergoes a background check. Such laws are so restrictive that a shooter may not even allow another person at the range to allow another person at the range to handle or shoot his/her firearm at a shooting range without undergoing a “comprehensive background check.” Antigunners gleefully propose anything that would inconvenience or cause problems for lawful gun owners, yet those proposing such laws would not want such restrictions or inconveniences imposed on themselves. When they say they want to “keep guns out of the hands of those who shouldn’t have them”, it means not just criminals, but all of us. For over fifty years Democrats and liberals have sought to abolish private gun ownership. They would rather ban than merely “control” firearms. They aren’t even honest enough to admit it.
