Pokemon GO is allowing you to catch a shiny Ghastly today as part of their July Community Day .

For a few hours each month, you can encounter special Pokémon. During these, there’s a chance to learn a previously unavailable move for that Pokémon or its Evolution, as well as earn some Community Day bonuses.

Shinies are incredibly rare and differ from their regular counterparts in appearance by being a different colour and have special moves if obtained during the event.

Last months featured Shiney Pokmon was Shiny Weedle the bug/poison Pokemon.

The featured Pokemon for July is Gen 1 Ghost-type/Poison-type Pokemon Ghastly. This means there is an increased chance to catch him roaming the wild due to the increased chance of spawning.

Ghastly then can evolve into a Haunter through the use of Candies and from Haunter to Gengar. You can then evolve Haunter into Gengar by using Trade evolution. This is where a pokemon evolves through trading just like in the classic console games.

If you evolve Haunter into a Gengar during the event or up to two hours afterwards, he will know the special event-exclusive move Shadow Punch. Shadow Punch, a Ghost-type Charge attack.

Gastly Community Day will run from 11:00 AM-5:00 PM today.
