NASCAR Talladega: Rain postpones remainder of playoff race to Monday

NASCAR Cup Series drivers will have to wait another day to complete the playoff race at Talladega Superspeedway. The field was able to complete the opening stage of the 1000bulbs.com 500 Sunday at the 2.666-mile track — NASCAR's largest — before rain hit the area. NASCAR threw the red flag shortly before 3 p.m. ET and directed cars down pit road on lap 57.

Drivers exited their vehicles and the cars were covered as track dryers attempted to dry the superspeedway, but the rain never let up enough to resume the race. Talladega does not have lights, so racing at night was not an option.
