After reversing his decision to retire from the One Day Internationals, Chris Gayle will look to add another feather to his cap when he takes the field in the three-match ODI series opener between India and West Indies on Thursday in Guyana.

The West Indies opener had earlier said that he would retire from the ODI cricket after the World Cup 2019 but backtracked on plans and was also named in the 14-man squad for the ODI series against India.

As Gayle is set to return to action after a disappointing World Cup, India opener Rohit Sharma showed his excitement to play against the self-proclaimed "Universe Boss" by posting a picture on social media.

Interestingly, Rohit Sharma recently broke Chris Gayle record of most number of sixes in T20 internationals. Rohit Sharma overtook Chris Gayle to set the new record with his 106th six in T20I cricket. The India opener achieved the feat during the second T20I game against West Indies.

Gayle will now look to make another record by breaking legendary Brian Lara's record for the most runs by a West Indies player in ODIs. He is just 12 runs short of Lara's mark of 10,405 runs.

The 39-year-old, however, had a disappointing World Cup, with just two half- centuries in eight innings, but was still named in the ODI squad for the India series.
