Westminster panics as Theresa May heads on walking holiday in North Wales

Theresa May sent panic through Westminster yesterday when it announced that she is taking a walking holiday in Noth Wales. The PM will take a break from the turmoil of Westminster and the endless political machinations of Brexit by taking a stroll.

But it did make some people uneasy because it was on a walking trip to Wales in 2017 that Mrs May decided to hold a general election.

It led to a total collapse in support for her party - and the hung Parliament which is making it impossible for her to pass her Brexit deal now.

Downing Street said the Prime Minister and her husband, Philip, began their vacation on Saturday after Parliament broke for the Easter recess.

They were seen the following day attending a Palm Sunday church service in Dolgellau - a popular base for exploring the mountains of Snowdonia - according to the North Wales Live website.

Asked by reporters at Westminster if she was considering another appeal to the country to end the Brexit deadlock, the Prime Minister's official spokesman replied: "No."

The level of style and comfort afforded to the British Prime Minister was laid bare when it was reported that Theresa May was granted exclusive use of the ladies loos at a motor way service station on her way to Wales on Saturday.

Delivery driver Jake Garbett, 23, said he had to double take when he spotted Mrs May walking past the shops and a Starbucks to use the toilet.

He said: “"I saw this woman and thought 'is that the Prime Minister?'

"Then I noticed about four blokes with her and one was talking into his collar. That was a giveaway that it was Theresa May

"She was not looking at anyone else she was just walking with her husband.

"She walked out of the toilets and her and Philip were walking side by side.

"People were wondering why the women's toilets were closed - they did not know what was happening."
