With 5326 runs, Virat Kohli is right on top of the list of batsmen with most runs in IPL. On Friday, at the Eden Gardens, Kohli smashed his fifth IPL hundred to help Royal Challengers Bangalore clinch only their second win of IPL 2019.

The match-winning 100 that came in just 58 balls is also Virat Kohli's first since 2016 IPL wherein the RCB captain smashed quite a few batting records. Kohli had scored four centuries in the said edition of the cash-rich league in which he single-handedly took RCB to the final.

To put things into perspective, Virat Kohli has more centuries as captain (five) than the number of hundreds all other captains have managed (four) so far in IPL. Only four batsmen have scored centuries while leading IPL teams in the past.

IndianPremierLeague (@IPL) April 19, 2019 Sachin Tendulkar scored a 66-ball 100 for Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium as captain against Kochi Tuskers Kerala. Virender Sehwag had smashed a match-winning 119 from 56 balls for Delhi Daredevils (Capitals) as captain against Deccan Chargers in the same edition of IPL.

Meanwhile, Australia great Adam Gilchrist, as Kings XI Punjab, had hit 106 off just 55 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Dharamsala in 2011.

IndianPremierLeague (@IPL) April 19, 2019 David Warner joined the elite list of captains with IPL hundreds in 2017 when he took Kolkata Knight Riders to the cleaners with a 59-ball 126.

Despite Kohli shining as a batsman while leading RCB, it's not difficult to understand the Bengaluru-based franchise's inability to land titles. Overdependence on Kohli and AB de Villiers and lack of balance in the bowling attack has led to their downfall in the recent past.

Familiar problems have come to haunt Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2019 as they have managed to win only two out of nine matches so far and are languishing at the bottom of the points table.

Kohli had reached 50 in his 40th ball but switched gears after the mini lanmark to take the KKR bowlers to the cleaners in the death overs. He got the last 50 in just 17 balls before getting out in the last ball of the innings.

IndianPremierLeague (@IPL) April 19, 2019 Moeen Ali's 28-ball 66 in the absence of an injured AB de Villiers gave the much-needed impetus to RCB's innings in the middle overs. Nitish Rana (85*) and Andre Russell (65*) came up with valiant knocks but KKR fell short of a 214-run target by 10 runs.
