Stamford Hill: Two people rushed to hospital after car overturns in police chase

A car overturned on a busy North London street in front of horrified witnesses during a police chase. Dramatic footage shows police at the scene of the crash, which happened in Stamford Hill, close to Stoke Newington station.

The road was closed in both directions.

People are seen seemingly giving first aid to a person at the scene of the crash.

It is not yet known how serious their injuries were.

Driver has been pulled from overturned car. Roads closed."

A police statement said: "At approximately 21:15hrs on Thursday, 21 February, officers attempted to stop a vehicle in the Stamford Hill area.

"The vehicle failed to stop and subsequently collided with two other vehicles.

"At this stage, their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

"The occupants of the suspect car have been arrested.

"The Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed as is routine."

A person appeared to be injured at the scene of the crash (Image: London999) A man who arrived at the scene a few minutes after the incident told Mirror Online he'd spoken to witnesses at the scene.

"It looks like a car made off from police and it hit another car.

"It was a chase.

"I arrived a few minutes later, but that's what I understand from witnesses."

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, said there was an ambulance service treating someone who he believes was from the car that was hit.

"The road was closed off completely," he added, saying police were sending people away from the scene.

"One of the cars flipped over."

Two people were injured (Image: @faiz l/Twitter) A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 9:20pm this evening to reports of a road traffic collision on Stamford Hill at the junction of Belfast Road, Stoke Newington.

"We sent an incident response officer, a single responder in a car and an ambulance crew to the scene.

"We treated three people at the scene.

"We took one person to hospital and the two other patients were also taken to hospital by Hatzola ambulance crews."
