Rafael Nadal and Xisca Perello got married on Saturday in front of more than 300 guests but those who attended were reminded the couple wanted the celebration to be an intimate occasion.

According to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo , there was a message left on the seats, written on behalf of the couple, which said: “We remind you that we would like you to enjoy our wedding and to be in the strictest privacy.

“When you arrive you will find a locker so you can leave your cell phones.”

The couple have been together 14 years and were surrounded by family and friends as they tied the knot at La Fortaleza property, which is owned by Conservative party donor Lord Lupton.

The world number two had several tennis stars attend his wedding, with compatriots Feliciano López, David Ferrer and Carlos Moya, confirmed on the guest list, as well as Argentine Juan Monac.

However, one person who did not attend was Roger Federer as the Swiss star had other committments.

While Nadal and Federer have been rivals for the duration of their tennis careers they have recently become very close friends. But last month the 20-time Grand Slam winner revealed he wouldn’t be attending.

“I do not know anything about it,” Federer said about Nadal’s wedding.

“And I have a plan for the weekend before the Basel tournament."

Although the couple did have royalty attend, with the former king of Spain, Juan Carlos I, among several famous guests. Related articles
