Man Utd fans furious with what Ashley Young did before Xherdan Shaqiri scored

Manchester United fans are hitting out at Ashley Young for turning his back to play as Xherdan Shaqiri put Liverpool ahead in Sunday's derby. Young was in front of the Switzerland international as a loose ball trickled his way in the United box and he thundered it at goal.

But instead of facing up to his man, the England international turned his back to play, and the ball ricocheted off his ankle en route to goal.

The deflection saw the ball fly into the air, beating David De Gea all ends up, clipping the bar and bouncing down across the goal line to put Liverpool ahead.

Xherdan Shaqiri smashed the ball at goal Reacting angrily on social media, one fan said: See Ashley Young (the captain!) turn his back on a shot along the floor from a couple of yards away because he's scared of the football hitting front of his body!

"It ricochets off his turned boot into the goal.

"His team will lose, because he's scared of being hurt by a ball!"

Another added: "Ashley Young at fault for every goal for me, switched off for first, no awareness for the second and turned his back.
