Suarez has been in pain for some time and was not included in Barcelona's squad for their Champions League trip to PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday.

Suarez now joins a list of Barcelona stars who are out injured. Sergi Roberto is also on the sidelines for three weeks with a hamstring injury he sustained in their 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday.

Rafinha Alcantara is ruled out for the rest of the season with a cruciate ligament injury to his left knee, which also he sustained in the match against Atletico.

Brazilian midfielder Arthur was also omitted from the squad with a thigh strain but Ivan Rakitic and Philippe Coutinho return after injury.

After a subdued start to the season, Suarez had picked up and had hit the top form, scoring nine goals in the 12 matches he has played so far.

Barcelona have been troubled by injuries to their stars this season. Even Lionel Messi had fractured his right forearm in an earlier match against Sevilla but has now fully recovered and is back to the field doing what he does best.

After the weekend of La Liga, Sevilla are on top of the table with 26 points from 13 games while Barcelona are just a point behind on the second place.

Atletico Madrid, Alaves and Espanyol occupy the third, fourth and fifth place, respectively. Real Madrid are sixth in the table with just 20 points from 13 matches.
