Levi Hit With Dangerous Contact Charge

Manly hooker Danny Levi has been charged for dangerous contact on Matt Lodge's neck while being tackled by the Brisbane defender.

Levi will avoid a ban for the charge provided he takes an early guilty plea, freeing him to face Canberra next Sunday at Campbelltown.

But it is the nature of the offence that is most peculiar, given Levi was the attacker and the NRL's charge is usually levelled at defenders.

The No.9 pushed up and then appeared to hold against the back of Lodge's neck as he was being held on the ground by three Broncos after trying to fend away the defenders.

No penalty was blown at the time late in Manly's win as the pair became entangled.

However Lodge can be seen feeling his neck as he gets up at marker and before becoming involved in the next tackle.

Levi will pick up 75 carryover points for the incident if he pleads guilty, while if he was to fight it at the judiciary and lose he would miss one match.
