Donboklang Lyngdoh scored a stoppage time consolation goal for Lajong but they were deep into the relegation zone after a torrid campaign and could never climb up.

Aizawl's Liberian striker Ansumanah Kromah scored his seventh and eighth league goals while Mapuia helped himself to his sixth with Isak also scoring late in the second half. Donbok, however, then displayed the 'never stop attacking' mindset of Shillong's young group aptly in injury time, with a classy finish.

With 21 points from 19 games, Aizawl now give themselves a realistic chance of finishing two better than their current eighth position.

Aizawl were dominating the young Lajong side from the beginning of the match but it took them 40 minutes to get on the scoresheet.

In the 40th minute, Kenstar brought down Kromah in the box and referee Ibungo Meetei immediately pointed to the spot. Kromah, expectedly, converted from the spot without trouble.

The second half showed a similar pattern with Aizwl look more dangerous and attacking.

Isak had a good chance to score in the 70th minute when the ball fell favourably for him near the top of the box but his volley went well over.

Mapuia had a golden chance to double the lead for his side in the 76th minute when he was on a one-on-one situation with keeper Chalieu but the last man of Lajong's defence did well to take him wide and thwart him his chance.

However, Mapuia wasn't to be denied for the second time when he scored a goal in the 81st minute. It was Isak's ball again into the box from the right, which fell invitingly for Mapuia, who made no mistake and headed home.

The third of the Aizawl goals came two miutes later with Kromah getting his second of the match. A Kenstar backpass to Chalieu went horribly wrong for the young keeper and Kromah made him pay. It was Kromah's eighth goal of the I-League season.

With a minute left of the regulation time, Isak finally got a well-deserved goal for himself. He made a brilliant solo square run along the box and then unleashed from the top of the box to find the back of the Lajong net.

Shillong's first shot on target came seconds later from Samuel Lalmuanpuia but in the third minute of injury time, Donbok broke away from his marker inside the box on the left after receiving a lovely ball from Sheen and found the left corner with a sweet strike.
