Former World No. 1 and 7th seed Srikanth suffered a shock first game defeat against unseeded Misha Zilberman of Israel but the Indian rebounded to take the game into decider and win the second round of men's singles 13-21, 21-13, 18-11.

In women's singles, Saina Nehwal took just 33 minutes to overcome her Dutch opponent Soraya de Visch Eijbergen 21-10, 21-11 to join PV Sindhu in the Round of 16.

Nehwal did not face much trouble in the first set as it took her mere 13 minutes to take a 1-0 advantage in the match. The Indian had a 11-5 lead in the mid break which she widened to 19-9.

World No. 10 Nehwal showed glimpses of some excellent drop shots and her deception proved too good for the Dutch player to catch up in the first game as the Indian won it 21-10 with a powerful smash.
