Jimmy Eat World, Sum 41 headline two-night Kerfuffle Before Christmas

Alternative Buffalo appears to be in a very giving mood with the holiday season quickly approaching. The popular radio station's annual Kerfuffle Before Christmas event will now be a two-night affair split between shows at 7:05 p.m. Dec. 4 at Buffalo RiverWorks (359 Ganson St.) and 7 p.m. Dec. 13 at Rapids Theatre (1711 Main St., Niagara Falls).

The Dec. 4 show will feature a headlining set by emo heavyweights Jimmy Eat World. Most recently seen locally performing at Artpark with Third Eye Blind as part of the nostalgic acts' "Summer Gods Tour," the genre favorites recently announced the release of its 10th studio album "Surviving." Set to drop later this week, the album's most recent single "All the Way (Stay)" is currently streaming.

Sleek indie-pop trio lovelytheband and Canadian folk-pop outfit the Strumbellas fill out the bill.

As for the back half of Kerfuffle on Dec. 13, pop-punk stalwarts Sum 41 will receive top billing as the event heads north to Niagara Falls. The bratty quartet is still releasing new music after peaking in the early 2000s. The band's most recent effort, the ferocious "Order in Decline," dropped over the summer.

Opening sets will be provided by the raucous punk act the Dirty Nil and sweeping indie rockers the Unlikely Candidates.

Advance tickets for each evening are $35 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Oct. 18 through alternativebuffalo.com . A limited number of $100 VIP tickets for night one also will be available.
