President of Sudanese National Congress Party: We will continue sit-in until revolution demands are realised April 12, 2019 at 4:20 am | Published in: News , Sudan The leader of the opposition Sudanese Congress Party Omer Al-Digair April 12, 2019 at 4:20 am The leader of the opposition Sudanese Congress Party, signatory of the Declaration of Freedom and Change, Omer Al-Digair, announced continuing the sit-in (in front of the army headquarters) until the demands of the revolution are realised.

This came in his speech to the protesters, Thursday, in front of the headquarters of the Sudanese Army in Khartoum.

Al-Digair said that “the revolution is continuing and victorious.”

He explained that the forces of Freedom and Change decided to continue the sit-in until the legitimate demands of the revolution are realised.

Earlier today, Defence Minister Awad Ibn Auf announced the removal and detention of President Omar Al-Bashir and the start of a two-year transitional period in which the Supreme Security Committee and the army would be in charge.

This came in a statement broadcast on Sudanese state television, in which Ibn Auf also declared a state of emergency for three months and a curfew for one month from Thursday evening.

In the meantime, activists who were protesting chanted slogans calling for the removal of Ibn Auf in response to the statement broadcast on state television, according to eyewitnesses.
