The final composition of the national golf team for the Southeast Asian Games next year has yet to be finalized although top officials are determined to assemble a solid team capable of winning the gold medal.

According to National Golf Association of the Philippines (NGAP) Secretary General Bones Floro, there is no list of names yet to the finalize roster of the men’s and women’s team for next year’s SEA Games.

“We’ll discuss that in the next couple of weeks,” said Floro.

He also mentioned that the NGAP wants the strongest team possible since the biennial regional event will be held in the country for the fourth time and the first in 13 years or since the Philippines won the overall championship during the 2005 Philippines SEA Games.

“Of course that’s what we are looking at, we want the best team for the SEA games. You want to perform well in front of your countrymen,” said Floro.

With the roster yet to be finalized, members of the last Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games in Indonesia last September are likely to be included.

Leading candidates for the women’s team is Yuka Saso, who bagged the gold medal in the individual event as well as Bianca Pagdanganan and LK Go, who teamed up with Saso to win the women’s team event.

As for the men’s, the possible members of the squad are LJ Go, Rupert Zaragosa and Luis Castro.
