Greg Docherty reacts as ex-Rangers man Sean Goss wins MOTM award

Glasgow Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty arrived at Ibrox during the same window that Sean Goss joined on loan.

Greg Docherty has sent a message to former Rangers teammate Sean Goss on Twitter after the midfielder was named man of the match in only his second appearance for Shrewsbury Town.

Goss has seemingly stepped into the void that Docherty left after returning to Ibrox following the end of his season-long loan spell with the League One side last term.

The former Gers loanee made his debut in the weekend stalemate with Rochdale, and played the full 90 minutes on Tuesday as the Shrews came from 2-0 down with 13 minutes remaining to win 3-2. Subscribe

The 23-year-old did not get on the scoresheet, but he did enough to win the man of the match award. And that prompted Docherty - who scored seven league goals for the same club last season - to send the midfielder a message on social media.

Here is what Docherty posted... ‍♂️ — Greg Docherty (@Gregdocherty96) August 22, 2019

Goss knows how to make a brilliant start to a spell with a club - as Rangers fans know well. He was an intriguing addition to the Gers' squad when he arrived on loan during the 2018 January transfer window - the same window that saw Docherty move to Ibrox.

But he stunned everyone by making a brilliant start, producing some moments of magic from free-kicks and when making passes. However, that run of form did not last and it was no surprise that Rangers appeared to show little interest in keeping him for longer once his loan ended.

But Docherty knows better than most what a good spell with Shrewsbury could do for Goss' career. And he appears to have made a very good start.
