Five Everton players with a point to prove against Atalanta

There are several Everton players that need a good performance against Atalanta.

Everton's hopes of reaching the knockout stages of the Europa League are already over but they will still be seeking what would be a morale-boosting victory at home to Atalanta tonight.

David Unsworth remains in temporary charge, with Everton still yet to appoint a permanent successor to Ronald Koeman.

Although Unsworth has stated that he will name a strong side, there could still be some alterations and here are five Everton players who will have a point to prove if they feature against Atalanta.

Sandro Ramirez

The striker is still awaiting his first goal since joining Everton in the summer but could soon be afforded a run in the side with Oumar Niasse set to serve a two-game Premier League suspension.

An effective display against Atalanta would help Sandro to convince Unsworth that he deserves more chances.

Cuco Martina

The experienced defender was back on the bench against Crystal Palace after recovering from injury but remains behind youngster Jonjoe Kenny in the right-back pecking order.

If Martina is given an opportunity tonight then he could well persuade Unsworth to use him more regularly in the Premier League.

Wayne Rooney

Rooney's return to Everton started off well as he scored in his first two Premier League games.

He has scored just twice since then, however, and if he features will be aiming to get on the scoresheet against Atalanta.

Tom Davies

Davies broke onto the scene for Everton in spectacular fashion last season and produced some excellent performances.

So far this season the midfielder has found it difficult to replicate those displays but this is a chance for him to rediscover his best form.

Ademola Lookman

Another talented youngster, Lookman has been used sparingly by Everton of late and hasn't scored at senior level this season.

Capable of playing on either flank or up front, the prospect will be determined to seize his opportunity tonight.
