"Sancho, Koulibaly and Saul Niguez," Ferdinand said on this week's 606 Savage Social podcast.

"I think Harry Kane’s been linked but if I’m pushing for an attacking player I’d still go for Sancho, he gives you that little bit of imagination and I think he gives you that little bit of spice that they haven’t got at the moment.”

Ferdinand believes Sancho should be given the No 7 shirt, famously worn by United legends such as George Best and Cristiano Ronaldo, if he signs for the club.

“Yes, I would [give Sancho No 7], he’s that type of character," Ferdinand added.

"These are guys who, if United missed out on Champions League qualification for next season, they're not going to be too worried about their careers and playing Champions League football during the time that they spend at Manchester United."

"United, in targeting younger players, are maybe just being a bit more realistic about what the future holds and it's an interesting departure from the transfer policy of only two to three years ago where they were signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba."
