news: United have Jadon Sancho 'belief' with final deadline predicted

Manchester United are still confident that they will sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, because they don’t feel that the August 10 th deadline was “genuine”. That’s the view of transfer expert Duncan Castles, who confirmed that United are also now setting themselves up for the possibility of being unable to sign the winger.

Sancho’s future is still up in the air.

Dortmund put a deadline of August 10 th for the deal to be completed, but that date came and went without any breakthrough.

The Bundesliga giants want £108million for the attacker, but United aren’t willing to pay that much in one lump sum.

Instead, they want to pay in installments , something Dortmund won’t accept, leaving the deal in limbo.

Dortmund officials and players are adamant that he’ll be staying until next summer at least, giving the indication that the deal was dead in the water.

However, Castles believes United are still determined to make the deal work and will go back with another bid for the forward.

He explained on the Transfer Window Podcast that although the Red Devils are confident, they are still looking for alternative targets including Ousmane Dembele of Barcelona.

Castles claimed that United have enquired over whether to sign the French winger permanently or on loan with an option to buy.

“I think we’re seeing from Dortmund a push to hold to their demands now the deadline has passed and Manchester United didn’t meet their €120million asking price,” he said. “They intend to keep the player.

“We’ve seen various Dortmund players talking about how pleased they are that Sancho will be remaining for another season, we’ve seen Sebastian Kell say something similar.

“We’ve still got this poker game between the two parts.

“There’s a belief that if Dortmund receive the €120million asking price, they’ll still sell.

“United believe they can get there, they don’t believe that was a genuine deadline and they think they’ve got until October 5 th to resolve the situation.

“However, I get the sense from information I’ve heard that United are setting themselves up for the possibility that they can’t get an agreement for Sancho, and they’re looking at an alternative strategy for their substantial transfer funds, if Sancho can’t be done this summer.

“We told you last month that they made an enquiry about Ousmane Dembele at Barcelona, who everyone knows is available for sale and loan because of the problems he’s had at the club.

“There’s been an enquiry as to what the cost of that deal would be, the loan fee and salary etc or whether an option to buy would be included.”
