news: Paul Ince fires Premier League title warning over City advantage

Paul Ince has fired a warning to Liverpool (Image: GETTY) Paul Ince insists Liverpool shouldn’t rule Manchester City out in the Premier League title chase yet.

The Reds have been enjoying a flying start to the season as they have won all of their first eight top-flight matches and stand as favourites to win their first league title since 1990.

City are eight points behind Jurgen Klopp’s men but Ince is adamant that nothing has been finalised yet as Liverpool had a similar advantage last season until Guardiola’s men beat the Merseyside club and pipped them to the top of the table soon after.

The Liverpool hero also learned from Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson that nothing becomes clear in the Premier League until March and many things can go wrong until then.

However, the 51-year-old added that the real pressure is on City especially after their shock 2-0 loss to Wolves at the Etihad.

Ince told the Daily Mirror : "Absolutely no chance can you write Man City off yet.

"Liverpool went to City last year, about eight points clear, they lost 1-0, and that was towards the end of the season with around 10 games to go - we're only in October now.

"Alex Ferguson would also say that the season starts in March, you put yourself in the position in March then you have a chance of winning the title.

Manchester City can't be written off yet, said Paul Ince (Image: GETTY) "So many things can go wrong, we've seen that last week, Liverpool might not have got that late penalty to win 2-1, so points will be won and lost.

"The pressure is on City because losing at Wolves was a big shock.

“Sometimes it's the games you think you should win, you don't."
