Manchester United hero Phil Neville has heaped praise on newly-crowned Premier League champions Liverpool , saying their coronation has been coming for the last three or four years after coming so close and winning other competitions. Liverpool players watched from an unnamed hotel as they were crowned Premier League champions for the first time in the club's history.

Having gone 30 years without a league title, their dominance this season was rewarded after City's defeat at Stamford Bridge.

The Reds are now 23 points clear of Pep Guardiola's side with 21 points up for grabs, with Liverpool now setting their sights on breaking the Citizens' points total record.

Liverpool have seven games remaining, and can finish with 107 points if they win all of them, which would obliterate City's record of 100.

It caps off an incredible 13 months for the club, having won the Champions League and Club World Cup already.

And Neville believes the Premier League title was just the icing on the cake for Liverpool, and fans should have seen it coming after their impressive streak.

Speaking on Match of the Day 2, the former United defender explained that starting from the Reds' defeat in the 2016 Europa League final, they've been on the rise and have become better and better.
