Michigan football's David Ojabo stuck in Scotland because of travel ban

Michigan football 's David Ojabo has not been able to return to the United States and remains in Scotland, a program spokesperson confirmed to the Free Press late Tuesday. Ojabo, a redshirt freshman defensive end, tweeted earlier Tuesday night to express his frustration with the situation. "Sucks being locked out the country and away from my teammates," Ojabo wrote. "Seems like a never ending dream at this point! Miss my brothers man." Ojabo was born in Nigeria before moving to Aberdeen, Scotland, in 2007. He attended high school in the United States at Blair Academy in New Jersey and signed with the Wolverines' 2019 class. Ojabo's layover is a result of his status as a citizen of the United Kingdom. The United States instituted an international travel ban near the start of the coronavirus outbreak and the ban remains in effect. Ojabo left Ann Arbor and returned home to Scotland after college athletics were put on hiatus and in-person classes were canceled in March. The program spokesperson was unsure of a timeline for Ojabo's return, categorizing the situation as "wait-and-see." Michigan's two other international scholarship players, Julius Welschof (Germany) and Luiji Vilain (Canada) remained in Ann Arbor during the outbreak and have participated in voluntary workouts with the team on campus.
