Maddison is one of United's top transfer targets, but according to 90min , the Red Devils could be forced to look elsewhere if the 23-year-old pens a new long-term deal with the Foxes.

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers has already admitted that talks are underway between the club and the midfielder about a new contract, with his current deal set to expire in 2023.

Maddison has been in great form this season and has scored nine goals and provided three assists in 35 appearances in all competitions.

His performances on the pitch have not only helped Leicester reach third place in the Premier League but has also earned the player a call up to Gareth Southgate's England squad.

Rodgers is hopeful an extension can be agreed, however, United do have other transfer targets on their summer shortlist too if Maddison decides to stay at the King Power Stadium.

Aston Villa's talisman Jack Grealish has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, after showing his talents on the field in a team that is in the midst of a relegation battle.

Villa are two points from safety in 19th position, but Grealish has still managed to score nine goals and provide eight assists in 31 appearances in all competitions.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to continue the overhaul of his squad in the summer and former Red Devils' midfielder Jonathan Greening thinks the Norweigan should prioritise signing Grealish over Maddison.

"Over the past few months, there’s been talk of Grealish coming or Maddison coming," Greening told the Metro .

"I actually feel I would prefer Jack Grealish.

"Maddison is a very good player, super technical, he can create, great passing both short and long, and great on set plays.

"Jack Grealish, however, has that little bit of difference, he can take players on, he can drive forwards with the ball, and slide that pass through.

United are also fighting several teams to win the race to sign Birmingham City's Jude Bellingham.

And Woodward is willing to break the bank so that United will beat Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich to signing the talented youngster.

Bellingham currently earns a reported £145-a-week with Birmingham, as he is on an academy wage, but could be handed a deal worth almost £100,000-a-week if he chooses to seal a move to Old Trafford.
