Anthony last played in the NBA over a year ago, having featured in just 10 games for the Houston Rockets before being cast aside.

Months of trade talks ensued before he was eventually moved to the Chicago Bulls, who went on to waive his rights.

The 35-year-old kept faith that he would find a spot on a team eventually, even after being overlooked in the summer of free agency.

Trending But the Trail Blazers have taken a chance on the 10-time All Star and Anthony is looking forward to teaming up with Damian Lillard.

"Everything happened in like 48 hours," he said on his YouTube channel.

"I always kept my eye on Portland.

"It just didn't work out at other times but now seems like the perfect opportunity.

"Me and Dame [Lillard], we've been talking the past couple years off and on.

"It will only work if all parties see it the same way."

Anthony went on to speak about the process of when he got the call from Portland.

"The last year and a half man has been like an emotional rollercoaster," he added.

"All of this started on Wednesday. I got the call on Wednesday, thought about it and then Thursday - that Thursday was the commitment.

"That led to the next day on Friday which they wanted me to come and get right in to it.

"Let me just get three or four days of just getting back in to it.

"Mentally and emotionally I had to almost detach myself from the game a little bit just to get myself from sanity and not think about it.

"Once I got that call, the challenge was to just flip that back mentally."
