They have suffered at the hands of Pep Guardiola’s side, winning just one of their last seven matches against the reigning Premier League champions. Chelsea have found City to be a bogey team ever since Pep Guardiola swaggered into town as Manuel Pellegrini’s replacement back in 2016.

They did the double over the Spaniard in his first season in charge, with Antonio Conte’s side going on to win the league title in 2017.

But, in the time since, Chelsea have found City to be a tough nut to crack.

Tonight, the two teams face off at Stamford Bridge. And Lampard knows that, after Manchester United’s emphatic victory over Sheffield United, they can’t afford to drop any points.

But City, while they’re set to miss out on the title, remain one of the best teams in the country.
