Adrien Rabiot is set to seal a move to Juventus within the next 24 hours after he agreed terms with the Italian champions and turned down an offer from Manchester United .
The 24-year-old's contract with PSG expires on June 30th, at which point he will be free of his nightmare few months at the club having not played since December.
Rabiot fell out with the hierarchy at Juventus after he refused to sign a new contract, and although the return of sporting director Leonardo led some to think there may be a future at the club for the midfielder, he appears to be close to confirming the transfer to Juve. According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio , United offered Rabiot a higher salary but the player wants Champions League football, something which Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side cannot currently offer.
It will come as a blow to United, who already look set to miss out on some of their main targets such as Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire.
Rabiot appeared to hint at a move to Italy during a recent interview with Corriere dello Sport.
He said: "I’ve spoken with Juventus, it’s a great club where everyone would like to play.
"I like Italy so much, it’s wonderful here. A demanding season awaits me. At Juventus? Juve watched me and we talked about it, but I can’t say anything." Rabiot will now have the opportunity to rejuvenate his career after a season which was marred by off-the-field problems. He was suspended by PSG for going to a nightclub after their 3-1 loss to Man United in the Champions League last-16 and also liked an Instagram post by Patrice Evra celebrating United's win.
Missing out on Rabiot may mean that United step up their efforts to sign Newcastle's Sean Longstaff, especially with the uncertainty at the club following the departure of manager Rafa Benitez. Read More
