A 21-year-old Bloomfield Hills man was fatally struck by an Amtrak train Saturday morning in Royal Oak, according to a police report. The collision occurred at about 1:17 a.m. near Fifth Avenue and Center Street, according to a news release from Royal Oak Police Department. "Preliminary investigation determined a group of men disregarded the pedestrian railroad barricade as an Amtrak train was approaching the area. As the group ran across the tracks, the victim lost his footing and was struck," according to the news release. Paramedics rushed the man to Beaumont Hospital, and he died later that morning. No other injuries were reported. Royal Oak police, as well as Oakland County Sheriff's Office and CN Railroad Police are investigating.
