Michigan vs. Michigan State, Round 3? When it could happen

The Big Ten still has four more regular-season games to get through on Sunday before the bracket for the conference tournament — which starts Wednesday in Chicago — is final. But the big question is: When can Michigan State and Michigan meet again? (OK, after two rough losses to the Spartans this season, including Saturday night's 75-63 beatdown , U-M fans might not be as eager for the three-peat as MSU fans.) This is what we know: The Spartans are the Big Ten's No. 1 seed; they won't play until 12:30 p.m. Friday, when they face the winner of Thursday's 8/9 matchup, which is Ohio State/Indiana going into Sunday's games. The Wolverines, meanwhile, are the No. 3 seed, and on the opposite side of the bracket, starting their Big Ten run around 9:30 p.m. Friday. They'll face either the No. 6 seed (Iowa), the No. 11 seed (Illinois) or, with a bonkers run, the No. 14 seed in Northwestern. Assuming the higher seeds win out, MSU would face No. 4 seed Wisconsin on Saturday and U-M would face No. 2 seed Purdue with a berth in the Sunday's final at play. All in all, U-M and MSU are just two wins away from another rematch at the United Center in Chicago on CBS, with perhaps a No. 1 seed on the line again — this time in the NCAA tournament. (And if we don't get it then, it's unlikely to happen until the second week of the NCAA tournament, thanks to the conference placement rules followed by the committee.)
