Macomb sheriff bests Oakland sheriff in Roadkill Nights showdown

Two sheriffs entered the track. Only one emerged triumphant — and with bragging rights. Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham beat Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard in a Saturday night race, the first sheriff-to-sheriff "grudge match" ever hosted by Roadkill Nights. Roadkill Nights, which precedes the Woodward Dream Cruise, drew spectators to Pontiac throughout Friday and Saturday to watch drag racing, bike tricks and car shows. The sheriff showdown lasted only a few seconds, as Wickersham and Bouchard sped down a 1/8 mile strip of Woodward Avenue in their 797-horsepower 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeyes. While Bouchard's red Hellcat initially took the lead, Wickersham bested him at the finish line in a blue Hellcat. Wickersham's win drew cheers from the crowd, which pressed against chain link fences and sat in bleachers along Woodward to watch.
