Tom Holland's reaction to MCU and Sony Getting Back Together

After a brief summer breakup between Sony and Disney left Tom Holland’s Spider-Man future in limbo, the two companies announced Friday that they successfully negotiated a deal to keep the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for one more film. Holland himself seemed pretty happy about it, and celebrated the announcement by posting to Instagram one of Leonardo DiCaprio's signature over-the-top moments from Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street .

"I’m not leaving," says DiCaprio’s Jordan Belfort in the scene from the 2013 film. "I’m not fucking leaving. The show goes on."

Even when it seemed that Spider-Man was out of the MCU, Holland confirmed that he'd continue to play the role in future , which means that on Friday the actor was celebrating a return to the Marvel Universe, not a return to the red tights. And while Belfort was a Quaalude-addicted financial fraudster and Holland is an actor caught in an IP tug-of-war, the idea of finishing off the excellent MCU Spider-Man trilogy is enough to get anyone pumped.

Marvel head Kevin Feige, who's set to produce the third Spidey film, sounded a more measured note in announcing the deal. "I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it," he said in a statement . "Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold."
