Another bill has been filed in Congress with the aim of standardizing parking rates across the Philippines. House Bill No. 506 , dubbed the Parking Fees Regulation Act , was proposed by Surigao del Norte representative Robert Ace Barbers , and it could potentially make leaving your car at parking establishments significantly more affordable.

Under the bill, establishments that impose parking fees cannot charge over P100 per vehicle for the first eight hours, and an additional P10 per succeeding hour. Overnight parking rates will be capped at P200 per vehicle, and imposed grace periods cannot be less than 30 minutes.

Hospital visitors and patients, meanwhile, will have their fees waived if they can present a validated proof of transaction, and parking establishments will not be allowed to invoke a waiver of liability in case of loss of property or damage to a customer’s vehicle.
