Gwyneth Paltrow Didn’t Realise That Samuel L. Jackson Was Her Avengers Co-Star

Gwyneth Paltrow is many things—an Oscar-winner , an entrepreneur , the most unexpected recurring Glee guest star ever. But one thing she doesn’t seem to be is a super big fan of the Avengers films in which she co-stars. In a recent Q&A, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige revealed that Paltrow forgot that Samuel L. Jackson appears in the movies.

In a live discussion with Empire, Feige talked about filming the big funeral scene in Avengers: Endgame , which saw most of the film’s cast assembled together. "Gwyneth Paltrow [was] asking why Sam Jackson was there,” said Feige, Empire reported . “And the other actors [were] jumping in saying, 'What are you talking about? He's Nick Fury! You've been in movies with him.' But it was really something special.”

This isn’t Paltrow’s first reported Marvel memory lapse. In an appearance on Jon Favreau’s The Chef Show , her Avengers co-star had to remind her that they’d both appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming. " We weren’t in Spider-Man," Paltrow initially insisted, until Favreau convinced her that the press conference scene they’d appeared in had, in fact, been for that film.

Gwyneth Paltrow genuinely did not know she was in "Spider-Man: Homecoming" so this adorable interaction from "The Chef Show" is easily my favorite thing on the internet today pic.twitter.com/lc3VlSs1Hp

— Jarett Wieselman (@JarettSays) June 7, 2019 She’s also apparently forgotten who co-star Sebastian Stan is—on multiple occasions. After posting a photo to Instagram in which they appeared together, Stan added a snarky caption. “Glad I got to reintroduce myself to @gwynethpaltrowfor the third time,” he wrote last month. "We are in the same film." Paltrow had previously been caught on camera asking Chris Pratt who Stan was. He helpfully explained that Stan played Winter Soldier Bucky Barnes.

— A (@fierysadness) June 7, 2019 Look, Paltrow’s been on this Avengers train longer than most. She appeared in Iron Man , the very first Marvel Cinematic Universe film, way back in 2008. Can you blame her if, 11 years and 22 movies later (seven of which she appeared in), she’s not overly invested in keeping track of names and faces?
