Fox and National Geographic are investigating misconduct claims against Neil deGrasse Tyson

You’re not asking him for an autograph. You’re asking him to spend a considerable amount of time to go to your school and speak.

Thousands probably want him there every year, and plenty of them are just as meaningful (in addition to his own time for TV shows, interviews and etc. which might be even more beneficial since it hits a much bigger group of audience, and his own personal/family time).

You might think $30,000 is a lot, but I assure you that’s not a lot of money for hiring a famous speaker. You have no idea if that’s even his standard speaking fee or already discounted. You’ve come up with a value in your own mind and judge people against your (unrealistic) standards. Other people’s time are worth money too.

Ask him for an autograph, if he wants to charge you even $30 for it, I’ll side with you. Until then, get a grip.
