Food Hall Relaunches in SM Aura

The restaurant formerly known as the Todd English Food Hall has been relaunched into a dining space that is now simply known as The Food Hall. Don’t let its simple name fool you, though, because the refreshed concept now houses four of Foodee Global Concept’s top brands in a “food theater” concept, which has all the ingredients of a world-class buffet.

“When we started the food hall concept, we were the first one to do it and we operated every single station. We had stations that did well so we expanded those," says Eric Dee, chief operating officer of Foodee Global Concepts. "Now, we are seeing this trend with different brands within a food hall or food park. We wanted to ride that trend and bring back the brands we put out. We are back to where it all began.”

Here, Dee introduces the four concepts within The Food Hall, as well as his favorite dishes:

Choices Galore Hook by Todd English is now only available in The Food Hall. It specializes in a seafood menu offered through platters that come in raw, grilled, and fried. The lineup includes Beer Battered Fish and Chips, Pan Seared Halibut, Spicy Salted Egg Prawns, and Torched Nigiri. Dee loves the oysters at this station, which are flown in fresh every day and shucked in front of the customers. They can be eaten raw or requested to be cooked.

Flatterie has its crowd favorites, including their signature Barbecue Pork Belly, a flatbread exclusive at the Food Hall, and an extensive pasta menu that covers everything from Mac & Cheese to Spicy Frutti de Mare. Dee’s choice here is the rich and creamy Truffle Pasta and the Carbonara Flatbread

Pound brings its juicy burger offerings to The Food Hall, starting with their Double Backyard Cheeseburger, Crispy Chicken Burger, and Pound Foie Gras Burger. Dee recommends the Pound for Pound, an order that pairs burger sliders of beef and chicken. “I love the chicken slider, but this being a burger place, people order the beef. With the Pound for Pound, we got them to try our chicken burger, and we have converted some people already,” says Dee.

The Grill , an exciting new addition to The Food Hall, is a hallmark food station offering a wide variety of premium steaks at affordable prices, such as the Petite Rib Eye Steak (P890) and the Flat Iron Steak (P680). There are also the Braised Lamb Shank, The F.H. Half Chicken, Braised Beef Cheek, and The F.H. Pork Chop. Here, Dee loves the Surf and Turf, an order of steak, prawns, flavored butter, and steak rice.

There is also the twirl-all-you-can ice cream station with a house-made malty chocolate that is rich and divine. Those who want something sweet can order the OMG Lava Cake or The Bomb, a white chocolate dome (homemade chocolate brownie, banana and dulce de leche ice cream cake) poured with melted salted caramel sauce. For this station, it’s Chef Carlo Miguel who gives his recommendation: the Milk Cereal.

Dee explains The Food Hall is a place to satisfy different cravings and appetites. Daytime sees a lunch crowd from the nearby offices and malls, and fixed lunch sets include the Pomodoro Pasta and Classic Margarita at P285 or Food Hall Chowder and Food Hall Pork Chop with Garlic Rice at P365, among many others.

Dinner is when people want to eat, drink, and be merry, especially with a lineup of classic cocktails and Engkanto craft beer. A group menu good for four starts at P995, and guests can select from set menus that include Asian Chicken Salad, Crunchy California Roll, Dynamite Salmon Skin Roll, Classic Margarita Flatbread, Pesto Pasta, and Winglets.

According to Appetite As Dee explains, The Food Hall is about flexibility. “You can come in, have a salad, and go. You can also bring your family, order a kilo of steak, two flatbreads, and pasta, as well,” he says. “With the relaunch of The Food Hall, guests can expect the same premium dining experience in an unfussy yet sophisticated setting, with well curated food stations that offer freshly prepared dishes, more menu options, and affordable lunch sets.”
