'El Camino': Which Characters Are Alive & Dead After Breaking Bad Ended

The wait for El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie is almost over. In less than 24 hours, we'll learn exactly what became of Jesse Pinkman after the Breaking Bad finale, in which he was set free from a makeshift Neo-Nazi jail cell by his former teacher/mentor/destroyer, Walter White. If you haven't rewatched "Felina" lately—which you probably should, because it remains a damn near perfect ending to an era-defining television series—there's a lot of death and destruction to keep track of, and you're gonna want a refresher before your El Camino viewing experience.

So who's alive, who's dead, and whose fate is ambiguous at the end of Breaking Bad ? Below, a rundown of everybody's current status, along with how likely they are to show up in El Camino .

Jesse Pinkman: Alive Photo by Ursula Coyote/AMC . Against all odds, Jesse made it out of the Breaking Bad finale alive, having spent several months in captivity being psychologically tortured by a gang of Neo-Nazis. When Walt arrived at the gang’s compound, intending to blow them all away with a jerry-rigged automated machine gun in vengeance for Hank’s death, he was surprised to find his former protégé—who he’d presumed dead—as their prisoner.

In one final redemptive act, Walt shielded Jesse from the rain of bullets that he unleashed on the gang (getting fatally shot himself in the process) and set him free, thus coming to a kind of understanding with the one person he’d arguably wronged the most. Jesse drives away, the sole survivor of a bloodbath, and judging by the Emmys teaser , we’ll pick up with him just moments later in El Camino .

Badger & Skinny Pete: Alive Photo by Netflix . The Rosencrantz and Guildenstern of the Breaking Bad universe were never in any real danger, and they’re both confirmed to be back in El Camino . An early teaser showed Skinny Pete being questioned by police as to Jesse’s whereabouts, and giving absolutely nothing away. As the full trailer shows, Badger and Skinny Pete will be Jesse’s first port of call after escaping, and will (maybe?) provide some emotional support. Or at least a whole plethora of mood-altering illegal substances, which is the next best thing for trauma. Right?

Walter White: Dead Photo by Ursula Coyote/AMC . He’s dead, people. Vince Gilligan just re-confirmed yet again that the final shot of Breaking Bad was not a fake-out, and Walter White will not be pulling a Jon Snow in El Camino . That being said, Bryan Cranston has been very present during press for the movie, and it feels like a pretty safe bet that Walt will show up in some form as Jesse struggles to come to term with the past, whether it’s a flashback or a dream sequence.

Skyler White: Alive Photo by Ursula Coyote/AMC . Despite how grim things were looking for the White family throughout most of season five, all of Walt’s immediate relatives (Hank aside, RIP), made it out alive. Skyler’s last seen sharing an unusually candid conversation with Walt, who finally admits that his real motivation for becoming a murderous drug lord wasn’t concern for his family. “I did it for me,” he tells her . “I liked it. I was good at it.” He also gives her the coordinates for a bunch of buried drug money in the desert, advising her to use it to get a plea deal.

Though it’s hard to immediately see how Skyler would fit into El Camino , it would be pretty fascinating to see her and Jesse interact, as the two people who shared the closest and most complex relationships with Walt. Actually, all I truly want from this movie is for Jesse and Skyler to share another deeply awkward dinner table conversation about green beans.

Hank Schrader: Dead Photo by Ursula Coyote/AMC . Every moment of the episode "Ozymandias" is indelibly lodged in the brain of every Breaking Bad fan alive, so there's really no ambiguity here. RIP, Hank.

Marie Schrader: Alive Photo by Netflix . Marie and her flawless purple wardrobe made it out just fine, but just as Hank's unlikely to haunt Jesse's dreams, Marie is unlikely to cross his path in real life.

Walter White Jr: Alive Photo by Ursula Coyote/AMC . The fact that Walt's actual son (Walt Jr) and surrogate son (Jesse) never interacted was one of the few missed opportunities from the original show. (Remember when a drugged up Walt accidentally called Walt Jr "Jesse"? Good times.) Again, the two aren't super likely to cross paths in El Camino , but you never know.

Saul Goodman: Alive Photo by Ursula Coyote . Technically, Saul Goodman is "dead" and Gene Takovic the Cinnabon manager is alive. But either way, he's probably the least likely living character to make an appearance in El Camino , since Ed the Vacuum Cleaner Man gave him a whole new identity in Nebraska, and meeting up with wanted felon Jesse Pinkman in Albuquerque would be a surefire way to blow his cover.

Brock Cantillo: Alive Photo by AMC . Poor, poor, innocent Brock. First he gets poisoned with Lily of the Valley—courtesy of what might be Walt's most sociopathic moment in the entire show—and then, as of the finale, his mom Andrea is horrifically murdered by Todd Alquist, all to teach Jesse a lesson after he tried to escape. Gotta be honest at this point, Brock should probably stay as far away from Jesse as physically possible.

Todd Alquist: Dead Photo by AMC . There were no shortage of viciously cathartic moments in the Breaking Bad finale, but Jesse strangling his tormentor, Todd, to death with a rusty chain might be the most satisfying of all. It became clear pretty early in season five that Todd was extremely bad news when he unblinkingly executed an innocent child, and his sociopathic tendencies only became clearer once Jesse was taken captive. The buzz is that Jesse Plemmons has a substantial role in El Camino , but rather than Todd making a miraculous recovery, I'm banking on a whole lot of very upsetting flashbacks.

Mr and Mrs Pinkman: Alive

Jesse's parents made their last Breaking Bad appearance back in season three, when Jesse bought their house as a way of sticking it to them for kicking him out. Because there's nothing like purchasing a home with meth money to make mom and dad sorry they ever doubted you! Could Jesse reconnect with his folks in El Camino ?

Lydia Rodarte-Quayle: TBD Photo by Ursula Coyote/AMC . Of all the deaths in the finale, this is the only one left somewhat open-ended. Walt makes a quietly triumphant phone call to a sickly Lydia, informing her that he swapped out her Stevia for ricin, an extremely deadly poison which played a major role throughout Breaking Bad . Since there's no antidote, we can probably assume that Lydia died soon after the call, but if she got to a hospital fast and was able to identify the poison, it's possible she might have pulled through. Then again, since she barely interacted with Jesse, it's hard to see what meaningful role she could play in El Camino .
