Seattle police chief stunned at push to fire cops based upon race: 'It's illegal'
Charlamagne’s comments came after ViacomCBS fired Mr. Cannon from his long-running show “ Nick Cannon Presents: Wild ‘N Out” after he praised notorious anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan and called White people “savages” on his podcast.
“When you have a person that has the lack of pigment, the lack of melanin, they know that they will be annihilated,” Mr. Cannon said during the June podcast. “They’re acting out of fear, they’re acting out of low self-esteem, they’re acting out of a deficiency.
“So therefore, the only way that they can act is evil,” he continued. “They have to rob, steal, rape, kill in order to survive. So then, these people who didn’t have what we have — and when I say we, I speak of the melanated people — they had to be savages. They had to be barbaric because they’re in these Nordic mountains. They’re in these rough environments. They’re acting as animals, so they’re the ones that are actually closer to animals. They’re the ones that are actually the true savages.”
Mr. Cannon initially defended himself and declared Black people were “the true Hebrews.” He later apologized for his comments pertaining to Jewish people, but declined to apologize for promoting Black supremacy. He also slammed ViacomCBS and demanded full ownership of the “Wild ‘N Out” brand.
Meanwhile, Fox said in a statement that it had accepted Mr. Cannon ’s apology and was willing to “move forward” from the controversy, keeping him on as host of “The Masked Singer.”
Charlamagne agreed on his show Wednesday that White people had committed racially motivated “savagery” and “murder” throughout the country’s history.
“I’m not casting a wide net and saying that all White people are savages,” he said. “But if you want to have an accurate conversation about history, [then] yes, White people do have a history of mass racial violence in this country. That is accurate.”
Charlamagne continued the conversation on his show Thursday after receiving some backlash for his comments about Jews, including from prominent Black conservative Candace Owens, who tweeted , “Did the hundreds of white people who have been fired over these past few months for disagreeing with the radical goals of black lives matter prove that we have the power? Thousands of blacks promoted to comply with BLM. Thousands of whites fired for disagreeing, and everyone pretended it was cool. ONE black man gets fired and now it’s ‘the Jews have power?’ Nope.”
Charlamagne responded to Ms. Owens by sticking by his comments, saying Black people will achieve the same level of power as Jewish people soon enough.
“When you the boss, you don’t have to ask anyone to fire someone, you can just do it,” he said. “We will, as Black people, have that kind of power soon. It’s coming, and just like Jewish people demand accountability for racist attacks against their culture, that is something we should all want to emulate and continue to do. Period.
He also called for ViacomCBS to rehire Mr. Cannon , claiming that the moment calls for education and understanding instead of cancellation. Sign up for Daily Newsletters
