Congratulations on making it through a first reading of Infinite Jest. Nice to read a somewhat of a review that deals with the struggle of reading it. Do you think David Foster Wallace applied his mad genius to make IJ his magnum opus? I certainly think he made an effort to make it a rewarding experience for someone who takes up the challange finding deeper meaning in it. As a person in substance abuse recovery, it has a lot of grist to consider that keeps me mindful of why staying in recovery is best for me.

I could do worse than to reread it with the sequence of annum units in hand taking notes.
