Michigan football: 3-star LB William Mohan commits

Ahead of Monday's one-month dead period , Michigan football's big recruiting weekend has produced its first result. William Mohan , a 3-star viper linebacker prospect from New York, announced his commitment to Michigan after taking part in U-M's big official visit weekend. Mohan, a 6-foot-1, 195-pounder, is the No. 415-ranked prospect nationally and the No. 3 player from the state of New York for 2020. He holds reported offers from Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan State, Miami, Pittsburgh and others. He plays prep football at Erasmus Hall in Brooklyn. This was perceived by some to be a Michigan-Ohio State battle, as Mohan took an unofficial visit to Columbus earlier this month. As of Sunday, though, this one goes to Michigan. Mohan becomes the 11th commitment in Michigan's 2020 class , joining 4-star defensive lineman Braiden McGregor, 4-star corner Andre Seldon, 4-star offensive lineman Zak Zinter, 4-star linebacker Osman Savage, 4-star quarterback J.D. Johnson, 3-star linebacker Nikhai Hill-Green, 3-star linebacker Cornell Wheeler, 3-star tight end Nick Patterson, 3-star tackle Micah Mazzccua and 3-star tight end Matthew Hibner. Michigan had a slew of prospects on campus this weekend for visits, including 4-star receiver A.J. Henning and 4-star safety Jordan Morant. Other notable expected visitors were 4-star running back Blake Corum, 3-star outside linebacker Mitchell Melton, 3-star defensive end Aaron Lewis, 3-star offensive tackle Jeffrey Persi and 3-star OL Reece Atteberry. Mohan was the first public commitment of the weekend, but he's not likely to be the final pledge overall. Michigan director of recruiting Matt Dudek sent out his Twitter commitment signal with several silent face emojis, perhaps signifying more in the coming hours and days.
