BOSTON — No Blake Griffin. No Luke Kennard. No Christian Wood . Throw in playing one of the best teams in the NBA, and it was easy to see the Detroit Pistons had no chance Friday night. The Boston Celtics didn’t show any mercy, running to a 114-93 victory at TD Garden. The Celtics (19-7) forced 25 turnovers, which led to 32 points, and led by as much as 27. The Pistons (11-18), who have lost three straight, are 1½ games out of a playoff spot , but appear to be drawing closer to throwing in the towel with the Feb. 6 trade deadline drawing closer . Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown dominated for the Celtics, scoring 26 points each. Boston was without Gordon Hayward and Marcus Smart. Thon Maker led the Pistons with 15 points; Derrick Rose finished with 14 points. The lack of manpower gave Pistons fans a glimpse into the future with rookie Sekou Doumbouya receiving minutes late in the first half with the game still competitive. Doumbouya, the Pistons’ first-round pick, received the first meaningful minutes of his career, playing the final 2:42 of the first half. He quickly got his hands in the way of a pass between Kemba Walker and Celtics rookie Grant Williams, forcing the turnover which led to a Rose layup. But he airballed a 3-pointer and missed a tough layup, going scoreless in the short stint. He finished with two points on 1-for-5 shooting in 10 minutes. The Pistons received good news when the MRI on Wood’s left knee revealed a bone bruise. The team announced he would be re-evaluated in one week. He hurt the knee in the second quarter of Wednesday night’s loss to the Toronto Raptors. Wood, 24, is averaging 9.1 points per game. He’s shooting 61.7% from the field and 42.9% from 3-point range, as he has been one of the few pleasant developments this season after he was claimed off waivers in the offseason. “He’s a young kid who’s been a great surprise for us this year,” Casey said. “Very talented kid, but unfortunately, he’s hurt. He’s been a bright spot for us and also for the future.” Projected starting point guard Reggie Jackson has missed 27 straight games with a stress reaction in his lower back, but Casey said he could be nearing a return. “He’s been doing some things in practice, non-contact things in practice,” Jackson said. “He won’t be evaluated until probably after Christmas.” Jackson, 29, will be a free agent in the offseason.
