Luke Richardson scored two touchdowns, one offensive and one defensive, in the fourth quarter to help Clinton-Massie cap off a 28-21 victory over New Concord John Glenn in the Division IV state semifinal at Hilliard Darby on Friday.
Corey Stulz connected with Richardson on a 25-yard TD pass to tie the game at 21 with 8:41 to play. With 5:59 left Richardson picked off a Justin Heacock pass and returned it for the go-ahead touchdown.
Stulz also had a 31-yard TD pass to Richardson in the first quarter and Weston Trampler added a 3-yard TD run in the third.
Richardson finished with two catches for 56 yards and Tyler Beam had 10 carries for 50 yards for Massie.
Massie won despite being outgained by John Glenn 415-189 yards. Heacock finished 20-of-44 with 312 yards and a TD and Shane Bonner tacked on 110 yards rushing with two scores for John Glenn.
Clinton-Massie (13-1) will face Steubenville (14-0) at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium at 3 p.m. next Saturday in Canton in the state final.
Marion Local 31, Liberty Benton 13 : Marion Local scored 24 unanswered points to start the game, moving on easily in this Division VI state semifinal. It marks a seventh straight appearance in a state final for the Flyers. Marion Local (14-0) will play Kirtland (14-0) at 10 a.m. next Saturday in Canton in a rematch of a 2015 state final that Kirtland won 22-20.
Minster 40, Norwalk St. Paul 7 : Jared Huelsman punched in five touchdowns to help Minster punch a ticket to the Division VII state final. Minster (10-4) will face Cuyahoga Heights (12-1) at 10 a.m. Friday in Canton for the title.
