WA Premier 'Mike' mocks 'menace' Palmer

West Australian Premier Mark McGowan has had a laugh about Clive Palmer calling him "Mike" in an aggressive full-page newspaper advertisement taken out by the billionaire.

The Queenslander also made the same mistake in a press release this week and headed another "Clive Palmer calls for WA Premier's resignation over communist relationship".

"I took a photograph of that and I said to my brother Michael ... 'Clive Palmer doesn't like you'. But seriously, that guy is a menace. Not Michael, but Clive Palmer," the premier told a gathering of business leaders on Friday.

"And I look forward your support when we take some action with regard to him."

Mr Palmer has accused Mr McGowan of being disloyal to Australia by seeking to intervene in a bitter impasse between his private company Mineralogy and its estranged joint venture partner, Chinese-owned CITIC.

The premier seeks to do that via the state's legally-binding agreement with the companies covering their massive iron ore project in the Pilbara, which sits on land owned by Mineralogy.

Mr McGowan is worried the dispute threatens more than 3000 jobs.
