New gang emerges in Melbourne's west

Police say they're confident they know the identities most or all of an emerging group of thugs from Melbourne's western suburbs.

A group calling themselves BDK - Blood Drill Killers - is made up of mostly teens who have been linked to robberies and affray offences, police said on Sunday.

It's believed the group also has ties to another western suburbs gang, Menace to Society, a reference to the 1990s US teen drama.

"Police have been monitoring the group for several months now and Wayward Taskforce are confident they know the identity of the majority, if not all, BDK members," police said in a statement.

A number of BDK members have been arrested in recent weeks.
